New submission opportunities at WestWord!

Three new annual submission windows

Now that WestWord has a great new home here on Substack we’re putting all our energy into bringing lots more great stories to the world!

We’ve introduced three new annual prizes which have cash prizes and publication in special anthology editions.

First up is the 1000 Word Photo in which we want stories of exactly 1000 words inspired by the photo prompt. The deadline is 31st December. Get all the info here:

There’s a February 29th deadline for The Hermit Crab Prize, celebrating this innovative form. Send us your crabs!

Then with a 31st August deadline we have the Past Times Prize, which is for historical flash fictions up to 500 words. This will have a different era to focus on each year. Click below to find out the first one we want the stories set in!

So WestWord is now publishing nine editions a year and we have publication opportunities for micro fictions, flash fictions and short stories so get writing!
