Hi, hope you all had a great summer. Now that it’s pretty much over, we’re back to school, back to work, and back to writing!
The Monthly Micro has had a revamp after its summer break. The word count is now going fixed again and is up to 150 every month.
The prompts are going to be a mix of images, themes and genres and we hope to read lots of great stories. Remember the more entries we get, the bigger the cash prizes so tell all the writers you know about this contest.
The prompt for September will be revealed at tomorrow’s workshop with Debbi Voisey, which you can book here, and then will be posted on the WestWord website on Monday. You have until Sunday 8th September to write and submit your story.
Tomorrow we are really excited to bring you the first story to appear in our new Story Sunday spot, which publishes a flash fiction every Sunday. We’ve got the first three stories lined up but want more! Send us your stories! Submission info here.
We have also accepted the first two pieces for the Short Story Spotlight, which is publishing one story up to 5,000 words a month, along with an interview with the writer. The first one will publish in October and we’re accepting submissions ongoing. Send a story!
And we are still seeking the first writer to appear in the Flash Focus feature! Find out more.
We can’t wait to read your words!

It’s your last chance to enter the first ever Past Times Prize!
