At Dawson’s, it was about teamwork, creation of the rum punch was no exception. Claire, who had a thing for Richard, brought the fruit. This entitled her to an extra glass, didn’t it?
Richard didn’t care about Claire; he’d got his eye on Mary. Mary had chopped all
the fruit; she sampled the punch while adding the apples and berries. Richard kept
her company. Mary didn’t care less, she fancied Scott.
Scott had brought the rum and so had James. Scott thought ‘great minds think
alike’, and they both had a sample, to check it had blended. Scott liked James,
enormously.
James pretended to drink the punch. He didn’t care about Scott or the others.
The only thing James fancied were his chances. While his colleagues emptied the
rum bowl, he’d empty the safe. He and Edwina would be out of the country by New
Year. Edwina brought the bowl.
